“In such ugly times, the only true protest is beauty."
- Phil Ochs
Donovan and Joan Baez hang out at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, they perform Donovan’s song “Colours” together onstage at one point. Baez has own version of “Colours” on her “Farewell Angelina” album. Donovan admits that he had a crush on Baez, but apparently she was not over Bob Dylan, who had recently broken up with her at the time.

Edward Fox, photographed by Norman Parkinson for Men in Vogue (November 1965)
I’m most familiar with Edward Fox from his role in The Day of the Jackal (1973). It surprises me to see him looking so young and cute.
He claims never to have worn jeans. When I first learned that, I was mad at my parents for having put me in jeans before I realized there might be something “wrong” with wearing jeans. However, my reality is that I’m a t-shirt-and-jeans guy. I’ll never be Edward Fox, and I’m all right with that.

Phil Ochs - I’m Going to Say It Now
ABC Scope filmed May 7, 1965 at Ohio State University “The following references on Phil Ochs pertain to a Free Speech Front (62-110105) march which was planned for 5/5/65 at the Ohio State University (OSU), Columbus, in protest of the Speakers’ Rule at the University. The march was cancelled and a rally was planned for 5/7/65 because Ochs, a former OSU student and a NYC folk singer, was unable to attend. On 5/7/65 the rally was held on the OSU Oval and Ochs entertained with several songs.” -Excerpt from Phil Ochs’ FBI File
